Melody's Deliciously Creamy Pierogi Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 package 14 ounces frozen pierogies, thawed
  • 1 pound ground pork or sausage
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 10.75 ounces condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Cook pork: In a large skillet, brown the ground pork or sausage over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Sauté onion and garlic: Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked pork, onion, garlic, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, Parmesan cheese, and melted butter.
  • Layer casserole: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer the thawed pierogies and the creamy sauce mixture. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-45 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Tips:
  • For a richer flavor, use a combination of ground pork and sausage.
  • You can use frozen or fresh pierogies for this recipe.
