Homemade Salsa: Perfectly Spicy and Fresh

Ingredients

  • 4 medium tomatoes diced
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper seeded and minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well: Stir the ingredients together until thoroughly combined.
  • Adjust flavor: Taste the salsa and adjust the seasonings to your preferred taste. Add more lime juice, jalapeño, or salt and pepper as needed.
  • Chill: Transfer the salsa to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Tips:
  • For a smoother salsa, roast the tomatoes and jalapeño before dicing them.
  • To make a chunky salsa, leave some of the tomatoes and onion in larger pieces.
  • For a spicier salsa, add more jalapeño or use a hotter type of pepper.
  • Serve the salsa with chips, tacos, or as a topping for grilled chicken or fish.
  • Enjoy your homemade salsa!
