Hearty Turkey Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 can 15 ounces black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can 15 ounces kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can 15 ounces diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 can 10 ounces diced chili peppers, with juice
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Brown ground turkey: In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground turkey. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Sauté vegetables: Add the onion, garlic, and green bell pepper to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  • Add beans and tomatoes: Stir in the black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced chili peppers, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer: Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1.5-2 hours, or until the flavors have combined and the chili has thickened.
  • Serve: Serve hot, topped with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado, or chopped green onions.
  • Enjoy your hearty turkey chili!
  • Optional toppings: You can also add other toppings to your chili, such as cornbread, tortilla chips, or a dollop of homemade guacamole.
