Elegant Chocolate Soufflé

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare soufflé dishes: Butter four 6-ounce soufflé dishes and dust with cocoa powder.
  • Whisk egg yolks: In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add dry ingredients: Gradually whisk in the flour, cocoa powder, milk, melted butter, and salt.
  • Beat egg whites: In a clean bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold egg whites: Gently fold egg whites into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  • Divide batter: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared soufflé dishes.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and set.
  • Serve immediately: Serve the soufflés immediately while still hot and puffy.
