Church's Texas Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Add the chicken pieces and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Prepare the breading: In a shallow dish, combine the flour. In another dish, beat the eggs.
  • Bread the chicken: Dredge the marinated chicken pieces in the flour, then dip in the egg wash, and finally coat again in the flour.
  • Fry the chicken: Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the breaded chicken pieces to the hot oil and fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Drain and serve: Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
  • Enjoy your homemade Church's Texas Chicken!
